5 Tips for Summer Body Confidence

Summer is right around the corner and there are so many things to love about this time of year! Here at the Evolve Studio the sun has been streaming through our windows and giving us those summer vibes. No rest for the wicked though, as our amazing production team have been busy bees carefully creating fresh batches of all your favourite Evolve products...and some newbies too (exciting!)

At Evolve it is our mission to be true and transparent to our customers about what goes into our products, and that we are continuously working to make our products the best they can be...we just want to make skincare better and that’s our fundamental value. We also believe that making small changes in our everyday lives can make a big difference: to our health, to how we feel and to the world around us. Let’s be kind to ourselves and let’s give ourselves a break, especially when it comes to how we feel about our own bodies and the skin that we are in.

We’re not here to tell you how you should feel about your skin or the way your body looks, we just want to let you know that you are fabulous, and remind you that our bodies are wonderful things; life is for living; and that summer is for making memories. We also want to share a few things that we think might give your confidence a quick boost and make you feel a little extra gorgeous this Summer.

To be honest we love all of these, why don’t you give them a try!

1. Body scrubbing.

Lots of you might already do this, some of you might only think to do it before you go on holiday, but exfoliating is incredible for your body...and an instant boost. Using a body scrub will get rid of dead skin, increase cell turnover and get your blood flowing around the body, making you look better and feel better too (...and if you haven’t already tried our beautiful Tropical Blossom Body Polish you are in for a treat!)

2. Shopping...Any excuse!

But seriously, not many of us feel great in the same old swimsuit or summer dress, so treating yourself to a few new summer essentials might just do the trick; a new, well-fitted swimsuit can really make a difference, and a pretty kaftan or cover up is a great way to accessorise on the beach. Talking accessories, an oh-so-fabulous hat will not only look amazing, but it will also protect your eyes, the delicate skin on your face, and the bits we tend to forget when smothering ourselves in sunscreen.

3. Stand tall & get moving.

We are always being told that exercise is vital for our health and wellbeing, that is because it’s true! Not only does our body thank us for it (eventually) but it really does give our mood a boost too. Most of us know that we should try and move more, but we should also take some time to really notice our posture. Standing tall with our shoulders back instantly alters your body shape, making you appear taller, more streamlined and of course more confident!

4. Summer is the time for colourful, natural foods...so eat yourself a rainbow!

Colourful, delicious, natural foods are a plenty in summer! And lots of them are proven mood boosters, and increasing your intake of healthy natural foods is bound to make you feel good all round! Avocados, grapes, strawberries, raw nuts and fish to name a few...are all full of incredible nutrients and boost energy as well as your mood! In fact, we stumbled across a yummy recipe for a chocolate avocado mousse...it looks sweet and delicious and full of goodness too...what’s not to love?! Check out the recipe at the end of this blog.

5. Pamper yourself…you deserve it.

Give yourself a little extra time. Whether it’s a full on spa treat, applying a self tan at home, or even just a quick spray of your favourite perfume, it be might just what you need. In fact, it’s actually been found that even something as simple as applying deodorant can change the way you feel about your own appearance (honestly, it’s true!).

Summer is a time of year we all look forward to... but that excitement can be interrupted by feelings of dread or anxiety about the way we look. We can’t always completely banish the things that make us feel that way, but we can try to be kind to ourselves, treat our body to good things and also try and remember that; the people we surround ourselves with just don’t see the negative things that we think we can see in ourselves!


Recipe: Chocolate Avocado Mousse (which can be frozen to make “Fudgesicles” as well as a chocolate sauce or fondue!)

Gluten Free, Vegan & Vegetarian Friendly

Serves 8-12


Ingredients

  • ½ cup medjool dates, soaked
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1½ cups mashed avocado (2-3 avocados)
  • ¾ cup raw cacao powder
  • ½ cup water

Method

  1. Blend or process dates, maple syrup and vanilla extract until smooth. Add mashed avocado and cacao powder and process until creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula if needed.
  2. Add the water and process until smooth. Serve at room temperature or chilled. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator up to 3 days or in the freezer up to 2 weeks.
  3. Fudgesicles: Freeze the mousse in ice cube trays. Thaw for 5 minutes before serving.
  4. Chocolate Sauce or Fondue: Increase water to 1 cup
