How To Make Your Own Toothpaste: A Simple Homemade Toothpaste Recipe

We all brush our teeth at least twice a day, so we must get through a lot of toothpaste, right?

Although it might sound strange, making your own natural toothpaste could actually be really effective. It would be very cost effective because it means you wouldn’t have to buy branded toothpaste anymore, and it would also be really environmentally effective as you would be massively reducing the amount of waste you produce.

When people are trying out easy zero waste swaps they can make in their daily routines, making your own toothpaste is a favourite. It is really easy, completely natural, cheap to make and uses ingredients that you can already find in your kitchen cupboards or in any local supermarket.

Making your own natural toothpaste also means that you avoid a lot of unnatural chemicals that ‘conventional’ toothpastes may use, such as fluoride, sodium hydroxide and sodium lauryl sulfate. This way, you know exactly what you are using and what is potentially going into your body.
