Changing Your Skincare With The Seasons

Changing Your Skincare With The Seasons

You might have a skincare routine that feels second nature to you. You’ve probably done it at least every night for quite a while. This is great - but are you going to change it now we’re heading towards warmer weather?

The weather around us can have a huge affect on our skin and how it behaves. This means that in order to keep our skin under control, we may need to adapt our routines to suit the current climate.

This doesn’t mean wasting all of your current products and completely redesigning your skin care ritual, but it may mean adding in some extra treats for you and your skin.

How does the weather affect your skin?

How the weather affects your skin really depends on your skin type. Different weather conditions can cause anything from break outs to dryness and even irritate conditions such as eczema.

Cold Weather

can cold weather affect your skin

Cold weather during the winter months often means low humidity. This can really dry out your skin. Bitter winds that often join our winters can strip your skin of the moisture it needs to keep itself hydrated.

During colder months you tend to wrap your body up in big coats, hats, scarves and gloves. But quite often your face is exposed to the elements. Meaning that your face can be left with dry sore patches due to lack of moisture, and can also appear red and feel tighter than usual. This is due to cold weather conditions triggering skin sensitivities.

Warm Weather

When it comes to warmer weather our skin’s main concern is the sun. Exposure to the sun is one of the main reasons for premature skin ageing, so making sure you wear an SPF daily will help to protect your skin against further damage. Even when it doesn’t feel really warm outside and it looks cloudy, the sun can still damage your skin!

The warm weather can also lead to breakouts. If you have oily skin then you are probably already aware that breakouts can be caused when your pores become clogged. During the warmer weather, you may have a tendency to sweat more and your sebaceous glands may also produce more sebum. If excess oils and bacteria combine on the skin, they may end up clogging our pores which in turn can lead to more breakouts. warm weather can affect your skin

How to help your skin

Colder Weather

You may have noticed that during the colder months you began moisturising more regularly, or maybe began using a heavier moisturiser designed specifically for those with dry skin. This is a great step towards filling your skin back up with moisture that it may have lost in the cold weather. Our  Multi Peptide 360 Moisture Cream  is recommended for those with dry to very dry skin and is full of natural superfoods to deliver intense hydration for your skin alongside ageing protection benefits.

You could even layer your moisturiser with an oil to really lock in all of the moisture you’re adding back into your skin. An oil such as our  Miracle Facial Oil  not only nourishes your skin but also uses Organic Blackseed Oil to help reduce signs of irritation. Great for those who suffer with redness and painful skin in the colder weather.

Warmer Weather

When the weather gets warmer it’s even more important to apply SPF to protect your skin, but it's also important to maintain your skincare routine and adapt it to suit its needs.

When you sweat and produce excess sebum, your skin can be more prone to breakouts. In order to try and manage this you can cleanse your skin to help remove anything dirt or impurities that may be clogging your pores. Our  Daily Detox Facial Wash  uses natural sugars to cleanse away any impurities whilst leaving your skin clean and smooth.

If your skin is becoming more oily in the warm weather, you may think that you can skip moisturising as your skin feels hydrated enough. But a moisturiser such as our  True Balance Lotion  helps to mattify your skin, whilst its Avocado Extract helps to reduce excess oil production, helping you to avoid a shiny T-zone.
